Who built this

Buy Canadian was created by Sue Steckle, who is a proud Canadian (born & raised in rural Ontario) and runs Bricks2Clicks, a Shopify development and consulting agency, located in Calgary. Sue helps merchants build and launch their Shopify stores, improve their stores, and assists with marketing integrations like Klaviyo and Google's properties. Why it exists

Canadians increasingly want to find and buy from Canadian merchants, but product origin is hard to verify and no single store lists everything Canadian. Buy Canadian searches the Shopify Global Catalog live on the first visit to a category or search, so what you see here are fresh Catalog results (no product database on our servers), with a best-effort English and French origin search filter (“made in Canada” / “fabriqué au Canada”). Your browser may keep a short-lived copy of a category you already opened so you can roam without repeating that query.

The quality of the results depends on the quality of individual merchant listings within their own stores. This site shows items that are sold by and shipped from Canadian stores, and if the product description mentions that it is made in Canada, that is indicated on the individual item's listing.

How it works

Buy Canadian is a pass-through discovery site. We do not store a product database, prices, or images on our servers. The first load of a category or search runs live search_catalog and product pages run get_product through a small server proxy with Canadian shipping filters. Sort and price filter use the results already in your browser. When you find something you like, you complete purchase on the merchant's own Shopify store.

Agent-ready (WebMCP & UCP)

Buy Canadian is built for humans and in-browser AI assistants working together. The site publishes a UCP agent profile at /.well-known/ucp-agent.json for server-side catalog capabilities, and registers WebMCP tools in supporting browsers so an assistant in the same tab can list categories, search products, fetch details, and navigate the visible UI alongside you.

Registered WebMCP tools:

• list_categories — ranked category list
• search_products — live catalog search, filtered for products shipped from Canada, to Canada
• get_product_details — full product by id
• open_product_page — navigate to a product in this tab
• open_category_page — navigate to a category listing

Test in the ChatGPT desktop in-app browser or Chrome 149+ with WebMCP enabled.
